Chapter Seven
Ryo wondered how, after one week of the cold treatment from Kame, he was now hearing from someone else that his other half was dating Yamapi. Surely that was something Kame couldn’t possibly keep from him. Ryo turned to Kame, whose face had a blank expression, unreadable.
“Wait, if Ryo-chan doesn’t know, then it can’t be true.” Taisuke said, oblivious to the situation. Toma, on the contrary, appeared a little unsure as he looked back and forth between Kame and Ryo.
“Yeah, of course it’s not true.” Kame finally said, almost inaudible, as he moved to settle in his seat. “Gomen ne, I’m a bit tired, can we talk about this later?”
“Yeah, sure.” Toma said quickly, pulling Ryo and Taisuke aside. He turned to Ryo, lowering his volume. “Did something happen?”
Ryo glanced at Kame, who was staring listlessly at the blackboard. He sighed, before showing them the messages. “Don’t say anything about it. I think Kame doesn’t want to talk about it at all. But I guess the rumour explains why Kame’s getting such messages.”
“I think how the rumour was written didn’t help. I’m not sure since I didn’t read it, but from what I gathered from my senpais, the impression is that Kame is cheating on you with Yamapi.” Toma explained. “It’s probably why you aren’t really affected since people see you as a ‘victim’, while Kame’s the ‘culprit’.”
“This is ridiculous.” Taisuke frowned. “These people are going too far.”
Ryo glanced at Kame once more. “Kame, I’m going to get you some food. And don’t say ‘no’. I don’t want you to faint.”
“Kame, you haven’t eaten?” Taisuke asked worriedly. “That’s not good. We have a presentation later, what if you faint during it? Ah, if you don’t feel well you must let me know alright? Then I’ll explain to sensei and I’ll do the whole presentation by myself. Don’t worry.”
“Ah, Ryo, I’ll go with you.” Toma said as he grabbed his wallet. “I need to grab some food for myself anyway. And in case the queue is long and one of us is held up, the other can bring back the food for Kame first.”
As they left the classroom, Ryo turning back to check if Kame was alright one last time, Toma pulled Ryo to one corner. “Are you dating Kame?”
“Huh? Of course not. He’s just my other half. It’s only you guys and everyone else who think that we are a couple.”
“Well, if you two weren’t so couple-like, we wouldn’t think that, and people wouldn’t think that Kame was cheating on you. The rumour wouldn’t have been that bad if it was just about him dating Yamapi…” Toma said. “Oh wait, it’s Yamapi. People might still hate Kame if he really was dating Yamapi, like how some people seem to hate Nino.”
“These people obviously have nothing better to do.” Ryo snapped. He knew Toma had a point though, about how his behaviour with Kame would have contributed to the misunderstanding. Even then, he still thought that these people had no right to do what they did. “If I find out who were the ones who wrote those stuff to Kame, I’m going to beat the shit out of them.”
Toma made a face. “I don’t think that would make things better.”
“It would make them think twice about hurting Kame.”
“Are you sure you’re not with Kame?” Toma asked. Ryo eyed Toma, who lifted his hands in surrender, dropping the subject. “Okay, let’s go get some food.”
When they reached the canteen, Ryo frowned upon seeing the long queue at the dessert store. He turned to Toma. “What are you buying?”
“I’m gonna get some pasta. What does Kame want?”
“Erm… can you get him some pasta too? Probably best if you put cream sauce for him cos he hates eating tomatoes.” Ryo said. “I’m going to queue for his beloved milk pudding so it’ll probably take a while. You can go back with the food first if I’m not done. Thanks.”
“Yeah sure. No problem. See ya later.” Toma nodded as they parted ways.
As Ryo queued, he noticed a few more people staring at him and pointing at him as well as some paper they were holding. Ryo got annoyed, and started tapping his foot, waiting impatiently for his turn.When it was finally his turn, he quickly made his purchase and was just about to leave the canteen when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
“What?” Ryo asked, voice curt.
“Nishikido-kun, you look mad. Had an argument with your little wife?” It was one of Ryo’s tennis senpais again. When Ryo ignored him, the other merely continued, unfazed. “Well I have something that I think you would be interested in reading. Here,” he shoved a piece of paper into Ryo’s hands, “have fun reading!”
At first, Ryo wanted to crush the paper and throw it at his senpai’s face, but held back when he caught a glimpse of the photograph attached to the article.
“Nice photo na?” The older boy laughed as he walked away, leaving Ryo clutching the sheet in his hand.

Ignoring people’s staring, pointing and gossiping was something that Yamapi was quite good at. At times like this, usually Nino would be around so it was easy to ignore everyone else because Nino was good at it and Nino would be there to distract his attention. Without Nino around, Yamapi would just try pretend that those people didn’t even really exist, that he was really the only one in this world, and he was mentally unstable so he could hear voices in his head.
Right now though, he didn’t need Nino to help distract him, nor did he need to tell himself that he was crazy, because he was already crazy and distracted, his mind still filled with thoughts about one particular person.
Somehow, Yamapi managed to make it to his classroom without running home and locking himself in his bedroom.
“Yo.”
“Nino.” Yamapi looked up to see Nino waving at him from his seat. “I thought you had to meet some sensei?”
“Already did that. It’s just the English thing again.” Nino replied, waving his hand dismissively as he got up from Yamapi’s seat to allow the latter to take his place. “Anyway, you look horrible.”
“Oh, thanks for the compliment.” Yamapi reached out to mess Nino’s hair.
“You look like you didn’t get any sleep.” Nino continued, but was met with silence. “Okay, I guess you don’t really wanna talk about what’s troubling you. But I’m always here if you need too.”
“Unless you’re off somewhere making out with Sh-”
“Shh!”
“Okay, okay.” Yamapi half smiled. “Ah, I’m surprised that HaseJun isn’t here to question me about the ongoing rumour.”
“Actually, he was here earlier, asking me about it.” Nino said, turning serious. “It appears that people also think that you’re the third party and that Kame is cheating on Ryo-chan.”
“What?” Yamapi stood up, surprised. “Is Kame okay?”
“I dunno. I haven’t managed to-”
“Yamapi.” A voice interrupted, causing both heads to turn. Ryo walked towards them, milk pudding in one hand, and a crushed ball of paper in the other.
“Ryo-chan, is Kame okay?” Yamapi immediately asked, concerned. “I just heard-”
“So you know.” Ryo cut him off. “Good, I need to talk to you about it.”
“Uh, Ryo-chan, maybe you guys can talk later?” Nino started. “Cos this is looking like a confrontation no matter how I see it, and you two are just gonna make the rumour appear true.”
“It’s important.” Ryo merely said.
Yamapi looked at Ryo, who appeared like he was going to explode any time. He knew Nino was right in that anyone watching the current scene unfold would say that Ryo was confronting Yamapi right now, and that this wouldn’t help the whole situation at all. But he also knew that Ryo would probably not back down, since Kame was involved. Ryo’s Other Half. Ryo had always been protective of Kame.
“Okay. We’ll talk on the roof then.”
“Oi, Pi.” Nino began, but Yamapi smiled at him reassuringly.
“Daijoubu.”
When the two of them made their way to the roof, stares followed them, which was inevitable. They walked in silence, Ryo ahead of Yamapi, the tension surrounding them was so strong that Yamapi felt like he was suffocating from lack of air.
“What exactly is going on?” Ryo asked, when they had made sure that they were alone with no one eavesdropping. “Kame won’t talk so I would like to hear it from you instead.”
“It’s just a misunderstanding.” Yamapi said quickly. “I just had this plan to make Akanishi jealous by pretending to be Kame’s boyfriend, and I know it sounds stupid, but I thought it would work at that time. I really didn’t think people would start spreading rumours about it and start making Kame and I out to be the bad guys.”
“You? The bad guy?” Ryo snorted. “You were made out to be a victim like me. Maybe some people would think of you as a third party, but I think most people seem to have this perception that you were seduced by Kame, and that Kame is, I quote someone’s message to him, ‘a two-timing slut who should go jump off the building and die’.”
Yamapi’s jaw dropped slightly, shocked at what he was hearing, and not knowing what to say. He didn’t think people would take the rumour so seriously. He definitely didn’t expect people to go to the extent of hurling insults at Kame. He had thought that people would just pass it off as a silly rumour and that the whole thing would die down quickly.
“Speechless?” Ryo asked, walking towards Yamapi. “You know what. I hope you can stop with whatever stupid plans you have to get Kame and that Akanishi guy together. The more you try to help, the worse you make things. And in the end, the one who’s going to get hurt is Kame and it’ll be all your fault.”
“I- I-” Yamapi let his head drop. Ryo was right. Kame was getting hurt and it was his fault. “I’m sorry.”
“If anything happens to Kame, you better be sorry, because I’m not gonna let you off.” Ryo’s volume rose a little as he threw the crushed ball of paper at Yamapi in frustration. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. “I hope you can stay away from Kame until this whole thing dies down.”
“Yeah… it’s for the best.” Yamapi nodded, avoiding Ryo’s eyes. There was a moment of silence, before Ryo moved off to leave the roof. Bending down, Yamapi picked up the crushed ball of paper that Ryo had threw at him. Unfolding, he saw a picture of himself with Kame. His arm was around the latter’s waist, pulling the latter close to himself, hand rested just slightly above Kame’s butt. If he was Ryo, he would have been equally angry. If he was Ryo, he would have punched himself and made sure he was bleeding.
He should have never interfered with Kame’s love life. No matter how much Kame liked Jin, it was obvious that Kame was Ryo’s. Yamapi knew it. Everyone knew it. And now, he had fallen in love with Kame, who could never be his.

@Chapter 1
*is still jumping around*
Aw~ I’m so happy u finally posted it up! *hearts*
And I’m also happy that Jin didn’t get to appear more than for this one scene *gets killed by Akame-fans* XD Haha, no seriously, he’d just make things even more complicated right now, while Kame and Ryo needed to figure their issues out first ^.~
Kame constantly sulking just makes me wanna pat him all the time – So cute *laughs* It’s a pity Yamapi never got to stay close to him for long, but well, shouldn’t have Ryo get jealous, too, right now, ne? *pats Ryo as well for having to bear with a jealous!Kame* *rofl*
Speaking of Ryo, for some reason the ‘Yamapi’s willing slave’ term had me crack up so badly. Wonder if he’d really go as far as become a willing slave for Pi like Kame suspects XD
And I loved this part:
“But I like Kame too.” Yamapi stated easily.
“Yamapi, you’re making this whole thing more complicated. Don’t make the shape even weirder!”
“It’s still a square.”
“Oh yeah, you’re right.”
————————————–
Yay for Taisuke’s logic! XDDD
But to keep it a square I’m sure Jin will have to show up again soon. Really curious how this next encounter is going to be~
So, don’t forget (haha, as if my constant bugging would let u forget about it XD) to post the next chapter up on Kame’s bday, ne? ^_______________________^
@Chapter 1
See! It’s posted! It’s posted even if Idol-chan said it wasn’t going to be~! x3 And it’s 6 pages of a lovely, printed ficcy~ It’s even more lovely than the…oh my, I forgot mom bought be doughnuts! *looks at the clock* It’s past 11 pm ;___;~ Too late for sweets…
I absolutely loved the “keitai strap” quarrel~ I’m obessed with matching straps and it was so cute~ Ryo-chan is really mean to Kame sometimes ^_^; Such a baka. But on the other hand it was incredibly sweet how when he asked Jin to go on a date with Kame, but lied to Kame later~ *glomps both of them* Just why was Jin simply sitting there and not even noticing them? Should I feel sorry for him, because he was tired or scold him for ignoring others? *blinks*
I laughed at Pi’s conspiracy… So childish. So was the conversation with Taisuke…. How come you guys make them so…how to put it not to offend the boys… well… stupid? XD
“See! Three! There’s one more I don’t know about!”
“Eh, Kame, I was talking about you.” – my favorite part xD So clueless it hurts~!
Sho-kun’s “time-out” also fitted there perfectly. Is his mind ever off the court? Of course, if Nino isn’t around?
Eh, Nino was lucky to get that surprise bday party. It had to be a surprise if it was a week earlier, nee. Such a pity it usually happenes in fanfiction and movies only. I’d like one, too. But before I started complaining at my friends not being creative enough, I dropped my jaw at Taisuke’s announcement. That boy is scary ^_^; *glomps Taisuke* Or maybe Yamapi the Drama Queen is the scary one..?
“childhood sweethearts” = OMG XDDD I envy Sho for not being jealous and killing Pi XD He’s so calm *admires Sho*
Ryo-chan’s talk at the end…SWEET ;___;
So. Do I really have to say it was – - – perfect? *fangirls* It’s good to know that I don’t =^____^=
Oh, but the way, I’ll just use the opportunity and compliment the new layout! ^_^ It’s extremely loveable. It’s just a pity that it’s black… Black is no good, too dark for me… But it’s cute anyway **^__^** Yay~! *glomps the layout*
Just stab be for being so irrationally cheerful today *hides*
*glomps the authors*
@Chapter 1
yay! I really liked this. and yup, it was really sweet of Ryo to ask Jin out for Kame even though he likes him. poor Ryo, and I loved sulking and jealous Kame! ^_^ I also agree with SumeragiAeka about the layout. Love the pictures used, and looking forward to reading the next chapter!
@Chapter 1
ohhhhhhh…. this is great! i read “double” not too long ago and really enjoyed it. i’m so glad you’re now writing (another, lol) fic with a prominent kame… and potentionally one of my favorite pairings, too.
