Chapter Five
Tululululululu….Tululululululu….
“…”
Tululululululu….Tululululululu….
“Argh… Dare? Ima nan ji.” Kame muttered, still half asleep and blurry-eyed as he felt around for his cell phone. “… Moshi..”
“Ohayou~! Kame!”
“Taisuke? Why are you calling so early- Didn’t I just talk to you last night?”
“I wanted to ask if you think we should change that segment in the project. Remember what we were discussing yesterday? I’m now a bit unsure if what we decided was ok. Do you think we should change it?”
“No.”
“Oh.”
“Is that all?”
“Oh, well yes.”
“Ok. Then bye.”
“Ah wait, another thing. You have reworked your part already right?”
“Yes. Now bye.”
“Do you think we should go through the presentation again since its going to be on Monday and yesterday over the phone we only practiced four-”
“Fourteen times! We already practiced fourteen times. And that was just yesterday alone. Can you just relax?”
“But-”
“The answer is ‘no’. Goodbye.” Kame switched off his cell phone and buried his head in his pillow. Bah, what was all the fuss? Geez, he can’t believe how long-winded Taisuke could be. Last night they spoke over 3 hours and when Kame managed to end the call, Taisuke actually said ‘Ok, we’ll continue with a more detailed discussion next time.’ More detailed?! This wasn’t even a graded project. Now he was calling him on a Saturday morning at seven! Argh… this is all Ryo’s fault! It was Ryo’s fault that he was partnering Taisuke on this.
Tululululululu….Tululululululu….
Kame’s cell phone rang once again.
Yes, it was definitely Ryo’s fault.
“What is it now, Taisuke?”
“Kazu-chan! Atashi desu~!”
“Eh?”
“Tomo-kun desu yo!”
Kame rubbed his eyes and looked at the caller id on his cell phone. “Oh, Yamapi? What- wait, Pi?!”
“O-ha-you~!” Yamapi answered in a sing-song voice, before suddenly taking on a serious tone. “Kazu-chan, Hyouyama’s having a bunkasai. I’ll meet you there in an hour. Make sure you dress nicely!”
“Huh? Chotto. Firstly, why are you awake at seven in the morning? And why are you calling me ‘Kazu-chan’? And calling yourself ‘Tomo-kun’? And bunkasai? Huh?”
“Oh, Kazu-chan’s still half asleep I see. I’ll repeat myself. Hyouyama’s having a bunkasai. I’ll meet you there in an hour. Make sure you dress nicely! Okay?”
“But-”
“No ‘but’s. This is for the Aka-Kame Dai Sakusen! See you later!”
* * * * *
As he stood outside the gates of Hyouyama, staring at the large colourful words ‘Bunkasai’, the crowd streaming in by him, Kame wondered why he let Yamapi convince him to get out of bed at this unearthly hour for a cultural festival. Actually, Yamapi didn’t even have to do much convincing. He wondered what was wrong with himself.
Kame sighed as he slouched against the nearby railing, one hand hooked in his jeans pocket, his other hand flipping open his cell phone to glance at the time. He was already late by ten minutes, and yet Yamapi was nowhere in sight.
“DAA!”
The loud outburst surprised Kame. He looked up to see what seemed like a comedy duo on stage, announcing the start of Hyouyama’s Bunkasai.
“Tankyouriso. Saa hajimarimashita. Zenkoku hyaku metoru tankyouriso. Mamonaku desu. Yo…”
“Tan tan tan tan tan tan…Terminator.”
“DAA!”
Kame started dialling Yamapi’s number. Nani kore? The festival’s already started and Yamapi’s still not here? “Pi? Why aren’t you here yet?”
“Ah, gomen ne, Kazu-chan. I got held up and then I missed the train. I should be here in about twenty minutes.” Yamapi said apologetically. “By the way, for today, you should call me ‘Tomo-kun’ ne.”
“Nande?”
“I’ll explain to you later. Why don’t you wait for me at classroom S-1-1? I heard from my friend that it’s some sort of cafe type thing that the class is doing so you can get a drink there while you wait ne. You haven’t had breakfast right? So be good and go there and get some food ne. Remember, it’s S-1-1! I’ll be there soon! See ya!”
“Eh-” Kame was about to answer when Yamapi hung up on him.
Sighing, Kame decided to get some food as Yamapi had suggested, and made his way into the crowd. He soon came upon a huge group of girls chattering excitedly outside one of the first floor classrooms. Looking up, he realised it was the class that Yamapi had asked him to wait for the latter at. S-1-1, with what Kame assumed was the cafe name ‘Romeo and Juliet’ next to it. Without much fanfare, Kame walked in, not noticing that some of the girls were eyeing him as he did so.
“Okyaku-san, you’re supposed to queue and usually we don’t serve, uh, male guests.”
“Huh?” Kame looked at the guy who had approached him. The other was dressed in a glitzy suit, and even had a rose stuck in his pocket, a contrast to Kame’s bluish-white print t-shirt and jeans.
“Hey, Kamenashi-kun!” Kame turned to see Jin, who was wearing a white shirt and black pants with a black jacket tied around his waist. “You didn’t tell me yesterday that you were coming for our cultural festival!”
Yamapi’s words ‘Aka-Kame Dai Sakusen’ flashed in Kame’s mind as he tried to make sense of the situation. He looked around, and saw that all the other guys were dressed in suits, and all the guests, minus himself, seem to be female. He didn’t see any semblance to a cafe. Kame felt his vein about to pop. Yamapi had just sent Kame to wait for him at a-.
“Yah, I know it’s strange that my class is doing a host club. Mendoukusai na.” Jin said as he pulled at his collar. “Such a hot day like this and I still have to wear a shirt and jacket.”
“Akanishi, wear your jacket! You’re supposed to be working! How are we going to get business if you keep slacking in one corner? The girls are coming here to look for you, y’know. The number one host.” The guy who had earlier spoke to Kame scolded Jin. “Can you talk to your friend later?”
“I’m working! I’m serving Kamenashi-kun who came all the way here to look for me.” Jin ignored his classmate as he pulled Kame in and found a empty table. “Ah, that guy is such a nag. Don’t mind him.”
“Eh, it’s okay, you don’t have to serve me.” Kame said, blushing a little. “I’m just waiting for my friend here.”
“Why do I always see you waiting for your friend?” Jin laughed. “Ah, then I’ll accompany you while you wait. Gives me an excuse not to work anyway.”
“Ah, okay.”
“Are you hungry? We don’t really have food here though. Later, when your friend arrives, we can sneak off and get some food.” Jin said as he got up from his seat. “Do you want something to drink for now instead?”
“Ah, it’s okay, I’m-”
“Who’s that? Kakkoii~! Just like Akanishi-kun!”
Kame and Jin turned around to see what the fuss was about. When Kame saw who the person attracting all the attention was, he felt his vein about to pop again. Yamapi was going to get it from him, for tricking him into going into a host club, even if it wasn’t a ‘real’ one. But at the same time, his annoyance was overshadowed by his confusion towards Yamapi’s dressing. The latter was wearing a black silk shirt that was half unbuttoned over tight demin jeans that were decorated with rhinestones, and even had a pair of shades on. Kame couldn’t help but admit that Yamapi looked really good, but… Was Yamapi joining the host club too? It was no wonder all the female guests were literally gaping.
“Kazu-chan.” Yamapi called out as he approached their table. “I was so worried when I couldn’t find you.”
Worried? Couldn’t find me? Didn’t you ask me to wait for you here? Kame raised an eyebrow as Yamapi continued.
“Who’s this guy?” Yamapi asked Kame, indicating Jin.
Kame looked back at Yamapi confused, wondering what was Yamapi’s plan this time. Before he could answer, Jin had gladly introduced himself.
“Ah, Akanishi Jin desu. You must be Kamenashi-kun’s friend?”
“Kazu-chan, was he trying to do something to you?” Yamapi glared at Jin, who looked back in surprise.
“Pi.” Kame interrupted. “What are you saying? Sit down.”
“We should be out of here. It isn’t safe for Kazu-chan to stay here.” Yamapi said as he grabbed Kame’s hand and held Kame close to himself as they walked out.
“Pi, what are you doing?” Kame hissed. “You’re causing a scene. This is so embarrassing.”
“3. 2. 1.”
“Chotto!” Jin hurried up towards them. “I think you’ve misunderstood. I wasn’t trying to do anything to Kamenashi-kun. I’m his friend, ne?” Jin looked at Kame.
“Yah, of course!” Kame said quickly. “Don’t worry about Pi. He’s just being weird. Sorry to have caused any trouble.”
“No, no, it’s no trouble at all.” Jin waved dismissively. “Anyway, this gave me the chance to sneak out! Hey c’mon, I’ll treat you two to something. By the way, what’s your name? I know Kamenashi-kun calls you ‘Pi’. What does that stand for?”
“You can call me Yamashita.”
“Okay! Yamashita-kun, Kamenashi-kun, this way, this way!” Jin announced loudly as he pushed them towards one direction, before leading the way.
As they were walking behind Jin, Yamapi arm slung over Kame’s shoulder possessively, keeping Kame close.
“What are you doing, Pi?” Kame hissed again.
“It’s part of the plan.” Yamapi whispered back.
“What plan?”
“To make Akanishi jealous.”
“…”
“By pretending to be a couple, Akanishi would then think that he has a rival, ie: me. Then he would realise that he needs to take action soon or he will lose out.”
“…”
“So that’s why you’re supposed to call me ‘Tomo-kun’. Maa, ii yo. When you call me ‘Piiiii~’ it sounds cute too.”
Kame elbowed Yamapi in the ribs.
“Itai!” Yamapi sulked as Jin turned around to see what the problem was. “Kazu-chan, itai yo! Fine, I’ll say sorry to Akanishi-kun. Gomen na. You must forgive me for my attitude earlier. I was just worried for Kazu-chan. So you must forgive me or Kazu-chan would hit me again.”
“Oh, daijoubu! Kini suru na! I can’t blame you for being worried. My class looks like such a scary hentai place earlier. I’ll also be very worried if my girlfriend went in there.”
“You have a girlfriend?” Yamapi asked, getting a bit worried and wondering if his sources had failed to mention this fact.
“Nah, that was just an example.” Jin replied. “Anyway, do you want to get some food? Or you want to go to the obake house? My senpai is in charge of that one so I can try to jump queue!”
Yamapi poked Kame in the cheek. “Kazu-chan are you hungry? Did you have your breakfast yet? If not, then we can always go and eat first.”
“Eh, I did managed to grab a quick bite for breakfast so if you guys don’t want to eat now it’s okay.” Kame replied. “Ah, but Pi you like to eat right? So we should go eat.” Kame teased.
“If Kazu-chan wants to go to the obake house first it’s okay too. I’m fine with anything Kazu-chan wants to do.”
Jin looked back and forth between the two of them, scratching his head. “Er, how about we go to the obake house first then grab something to eat after that? Cos the queues for food might be long.”
“Okay.”
“If Kazu-chan says okay then I’m okay too.”
“Ja, ikimashou!”
* * * * *
“Matsumoto! Ohayou!”
“Omae. Boku wa senpai da yo.” MatsuJun, who was maning the queue for his class’s obake house with a few of his classmates, chided.
“Can we cut the queue?” Jin whacked MatsuJun in the back.
“No. Anyway, it’s only for couples.”
“What kind of stupid rule is that?”
“This coming from someone whose class is running a host club.”
“That wasn’t my idea!” Jin protested. “Anyway, c’mon, I’m your kouhai. Let me in, with my two friends. One more person won’t hurt right? Minimum two. We got three!”
“I said couples. Three guys don’t make a couple.”
“Then I have to find someone!”
“Yes, that would be what the rule means.”
Jin looked around, then at Yamapi and Kame, then back at MatsuJun. “Is it okay if it’s two guys?”
“I guess.”
“Great! That means my two friends can go together, then,” Jin grabbed the loud speaker that MatsuJun was holding and passed it to the latter’s classmate, before pulling MatsuJun into the classroom, “we two can go in as the other pair.”
“Nani kore?!” MatsuJun protested as he got dragged in. “Who wants to be a couple with you?”
“Ii yo, ii yo, Matsumoto.” They heard Jin say as the two disappeared behind the black curtain. “Unless it’s cos you’re just too scared is it? Bibite ka?”
“Urusai! Who’s scared?! You’re the one who’s going to scream like a girl!”
Kame and Yamapi looked at each other, amused. MatsuJun’s classmate, who was now holding the loud speaker, waved them along. “You two can go in too I guess.”
The two slowly stepped behind the curtain into the darkness. There was an eerie light seeping thru from a small gap in the wall. Both jumped in surprise when they heard screams ahead of them.
“Was that Akanishi?” Yamapi whispered to Kame, who shrugged. “You know, I thought that he would have just dragged you in and left me outside alone.”
“That’s cos he thinks we’re a couple.”
“Oh, so you blame me now?”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“I told you to dress nicely.”
“I like what I’m wearing. This is a very nice t-shirt. And what does that have to do with anything?”
“Fine, fine, it’s my fault.”
The two walked along, Kame ahead of Yamapi, when suddenly a ghastly ghoul popped out in front of Kame, causing him to exclaim and jump backwards into Yamapi.
“Daijoubu, Kame-chan. I’m here to protect you yo~!” Yamapi grinned as he held Kame’s hand
“Who needs you to protect me?” Kame said, but he didn’t shrug off Yamapi’s hold, and allowed himself to be led by Yamapi into the rest of the haunted house.
Ghouls, flying bats, dripping carcasses, a one-eyed dog, Sadako climbing out of a televsion set and several swinging skeletons… All through the obake house, the two huddled close, hand in hand, as they shuffled along the narrow twisting passageways. They soon found themselves almost blinded by a bright light, reflecting off a body length mirror. On the mirror were words scribbled in red.
The chance of you meeting the person whose hand you hold now is like a miracle. Even after you step out into the light, please don’t let go of that hand.
As they stepped out, Yamapi immediately let go of Kame’s hand.
“Sorry, that would have been better if you had gone in together with Akanishi.” Yamapi said, only loud enough for Kame to hear.
“No, no.” Kame started. “It was nice to have gone in with y-”
“Matsumoto! Why did you guys have such a sappy ending at the end? Luckily we never held hands!” Jin shivered at the thought.
“Baka, that’s why I said it was meant for couples. And you’re the one who dragged me in.”
“Anyway, now I’m hungry. Your treat.” Jin said to MatsuJun. “Kamenashi-kun, Yamashita-kun, my senpai’s going to treat us to yakiniku.”
“Oi, omae! When did I ever say that I’ll give you guys a treat?!”

@Chapter 1
*is still jumping around*
Aw~ I’m so happy u finally posted it up! *hearts*
And I’m also happy that Jin didn’t get to appear more than for this one scene *gets killed by Akame-fans* XD Haha, no seriously, he’d just make things even more complicated right now, while Kame and Ryo needed to figure their issues out first ^.~
Kame constantly sulking just makes me wanna pat him all the time – So cute *laughs* It’s a pity Yamapi never got to stay close to him for long, but well, shouldn’t have Ryo get jealous, too, right now, ne? *pats Ryo as well for having to bear with a jealous!Kame* *rofl*
Speaking of Ryo, for some reason the ‘Yamapi’s willing slave’ term had me crack up so badly. Wonder if he’d really go as far as become a willing slave for Pi like Kame suspects XD
And I loved this part:
“But I like Kame too.” Yamapi stated easily.
“Yamapi, you’re making this whole thing more complicated. Don’t make the shape even weirder!”
“It’s still a square.”
“Oh yeah, you’re right.”
————————————–
Yay for Taisuke’s logic! XDDD
But to keep it a square I’m sure Jin will have to show up again soon. Really curious how this next encounter is going to be~
So, don’t forget (haha, as if my constant bugging would let u forget about it XD) to post the next chapter up on Kame’s bday, ne? ^_______________________^
@Chapter 1
See! It’s posted! It’s posted even if Idol-chan said it wasn’t going to be~! x3 And it’s 6 pages of a lovely, printed ficcy~ It’s even more lovely than the…oh my, I forgot mom bought be doughnuts! *looks at the clock* It’s past 11 pm ;___;~ Too late for sweets…
I absolutely loved the “keitai strap” quarrel~ I’m obessed with matching straps and it was so cute~ Ryo-chan is really mean to Kame sometimes ^_^; Such a baka. But on the other hand it was incredibly sweet how when he asked Jin to go on a date with Kame, but lied to Kame later~ *glomps both of them* Just why was Jin simply sitting there and not even noticing them? Should I feel sorry for him, because he was tired or scold him for ignoring others? *blinks*
I laughed at Pi’s conspiracy… So childish. So was the conversation with Taisuke…. How come you guys make them so…how to put it not to offend the boys… well… stupid? XD
“See! Three! There’s one more I don’t know about!”
“Eh, Kame, I was talking about you.” – my favorite part xD So clueless it hurts~!
Sho-kun’s “time-out” also fitted there perfectly. Is his mind ever off the court? Of course, if Nino isn’t around?
Eh, Nino was lucky to get that surprise bday party. It had to be a surprise if it was a week earlier, nee. Such a pity it usually happenes in fanfiction and movies only. I’d like one, too. But before I started complaining at my friends not being creative enough, I dropped my jaw at Taisuke’s announcement. That boy is scary ^_^; *glomps Taisuke* Or maybe Yamapi the Drama Queen is the scary one..?
“childhood sweethearts” = OMG XDDD I envy Sho for not being jealous and killing Pi XD He’s so calm *admires Sho*
Ryo-chan’s talk at the end…SWEET ;___;
So. Do I really have to say it was – - – perfect? *fangirls* It’s good to know that I don’t =^____^=
Oh, but the way, I’ll just use the opportunity and compliment the new layout! ^_^ It’s extremely loveable. It’s just a pity that it’s black… Black is no good, too dark for me… But it’s cute anyway **^__^** Yay~! *glomps the layout*
Just stab be for being so irrationally cheerful today *hides*
*glomps the authors*
@Chapter 1
yay! I really liked this. and yup, it was really sweet of Ryo to ask Jin out for Kame even though he likes him. poor Ryo, and I loved sulking and jealous Kame! ^_^ I also agree with SumeragiAeka about the layout. Love the pictures used, and looking forward to reading the next chapter!
@Chapter 1
ohhhhhhh…. this is great! i read “double” not too long ago and really enjoyed it. i’m so glad you’re now writing (another, lol) fic with a prominent kame… and potentionally one of my favorite pairings, too.
