Chapter Fourteen
Red. Yamapi was seeing red as he walked briskly towards the direction of his house. He wasn’t sure how far he had walked. Eventually, he slowed down, and allowed himself to look back.
No one.
No one was behind him. No one was chasing after him. Kame didn’t come after him.
Yamapi cursed under his breath. He felt his anger at Kame increase two fold. Why didn’t Kame run after him when he had left in a huff? Didn’t Kame care?
As Yamapi thought about it, he realised that he couldn’t exactly say he was sure about what Kame felt towards him. He had easily jumped to the conclusion that Kame liked him back when they kissed this morning. Maybe he was just deluding himself.
Kame preferred Ryo. Kame would choose Ryo over him.
Why though? What was so great about Ryo? Yamapi was taller than the other boy. He was much nicer too. When Kame was lonely Yamapi would be there to accompany him, not abandon him for some other person unlike Ryo. And Ryo called Kame ugly every day! Yamapi never did that. How could he? When he thought Kame was the cutest thing ever.
“Argh!” Yamapi groaned in frustration.
On one hand, he was madly in love with Kame. On the other, he was annoyed with the fact that Ryo was always in the equation. If the two of them were pitted against each other in a competition and Kame was the judge, Kame was most likely going to pick Ryo as the winner, wasn’t it?
The thought made Yamapi feel both irritated and depressed. Because no matter what, he just couldn’t not love Kame anymore. He tried. He failed.
Yamapi slammed the front door closed as he walked into his house, sure that he was probably going to get a scolding for doing that. Instead, he was met with silence, a reminder that his family had gone out for a short trip and was not going to be back until tomorrow evening.
Dumping his bag in his room, he went to take a quick shower, before heading to the kitchen to make himself lunch.
Was Kame having lunch too? He wondered. He couldn’t help worrying about whether or not Kame was getting a proper lunch. Yamapi picked up his cell phone, about to give Kame a call, when he remembered that he was supposed to be angry at the other boy.
So he made his own lunch and ate alone. Then he slouched in his couch, channel surfing. Then he put in some DVD and watched and laughed at the movie. But every now and then, Yamapi would glance at his cell phone, as if expecting it to ring any moment.
It was almost evening when Yamapi gave up and picked up his cell phone, dialling Kame’s number. Now that he had calmed down, he realised that he might have gone a bit overboard this morning.
Maybe he was selfish in asking Kame to choose between Ryo and himself. It was the same as Kame asking him to pick between Kame and Nino, wasn’t it? That was a decision he wouldn’t want to make. Despite Nino complaining that Yamapi had a tendency to ‘abandon’ him when Yamapi was in a relationship, Nino was still very important to him. And obviously, Kame not being a part of his life was something he wouldn’t want to consider either.
Maybe he was moving things too quickly, but it was a bad habit of his that he had with all of his previous girlfriends. When he liked someone he would shower them with a lot of affection. Although in this case, Kame wasn’t a girlfriend but a boyfriend. He never was in a relationship with someone of the same sex before. He wouldn’t even have thought about being interested in someone of the same gender, until he realised he had feelings for Kame. So maybe things were supposed to be approached differently?
But at the rate he was going, the relationship was going to end in less than twenty-four hours, as he tried several times to get through to Kame, only to hear the telephone operator telling him each time that Kame’s cell phone was switched off.
“Damnit! Yamashita Tomohisa! You are such a stupid cow!” Yamapi yelled at himself as he punched the cushion in his lap. “Kazuya’s going to hate you forever now, and he’s going to be with Ryo or someone else and it’s your entire fault! Argh! Why did you have to make him choose which keitai strap to use?! It’s just a keitai strap!”
Throwing the cushion aside, Yamapi stood up. Grabbing his keys, cell phone and wallet, he rushed towards the door, determined to look for Kame since there was no other way of contacting the other boy. He was going to apologise, and tell Kame how much he loved him, and that even if right now Kame was to choose Ryo over him, he’ll work hard to make Kame change his mind so that Kame would love him back in the end.

Yamapi had just stepped out and was about to lock his front door, when he heard a voice behind him.
“Pi…”
Yamapi whirled around as he immediately recognised the voice, both happy yet a little shocked to see the object of his affection. “Kazuya.”
Kame took out his cell phone, showing Yamapi the two keitai straps attached. “Gomen, Pi. I’ve thought about it, and my decision is still to use both. I don’t want to choose. Because both you and Ryo-chan are important to me. But you two are different. ”
“Kazu-”
“Hold on, lemme explain.” Kame put a hand up to stop Yamapi from interrupting. “After you left, I’ve been thinking real hard about everything. I’ve been thinking about whether I really like Pi or not. Because I realise that I’m the type who admire people easily. I admire Ueda-senpai, Tsubasa-senpai. Jin too, except that it wasn’t just admiration. In the beginning, every time I saw Jin I would feel doki doki, and so I thought I was in love with Jin. But the more I got to know Jin, the less I feel doki doki around him. Not that I dislike him! It’s just that I realise that it was just a crush and I really like Jin as a friend now and that’s that.”
Kame took a deep breath, before continuing. “And as for Ryo-chan, at some point I thought that I had feelings for him too. It’s because Pi you told me that maybe I like Ryo-chan more than I like Jin! And that’s when I wondered if maybe what you said was true. When I found out about Uchi-kun, and when Ryo-chan told me how much he loves Uchi, I felt sad. But when I thought about it, I never felt doki doki around Ryo-chan. What I felt for Jin and what I felt for Ryo-chan was different. We both have a strong dependency on each other, like what you have with Nino. He’s my best friend, my other half. Yet, why did I feel sad? Maybe it’s because in some ways I felt envious. I wanted someone to love me the way Ryo-chan loves Uchi-kun.”
“Kazuya…”
“But Pi, you’re not just a friend to me. You’re more than that. I don’t know when it was that I started becoming so dependent on you, when I started feeling my heart beat faster when you were close. When you started distancing yourself I felt so empty. I’m embarrassed to say this but I was jealous of Nino even though I know there’s absolutely nothing between you two. When I was sick and you were fussing over me I was so happy. And then you kissed me, and it felt so right. But I was worried. I was reminded of what happened the last time. And I felt uncomfortable with Pi showering me with so much affection in public. It’s not that I am ashamed or anything! I just, I just… I dunno how to explain it. But-”
Yamapi pulled Kame into a hug, holding the other tightly. Kame didn’t need to say anymore, for he understood everything. “Kazuya, omae no koto ga daisuki! Hontou ni!”
Kame was silent at first, a little surprised by Yamapi’s sudden outburst. Then he smiled. “I know. Pi already told me that earlier this morning.”
“Iie, that’s not counted. I said that in my sleep.” Yamapi said as he hugged Kame closer. “And does Kazuya love me?”
Kame nodded.
After what seemed like forever, Kame reluctantly pulled out of Yamapi’s embrace. “Anyway, I should go back now.”
“Wait, Kazuya. Please stay. There’s no one at home and after sharing the bed with Kazuya for the past few days I’ll find it real difficult to sleep if Kazuya’s not around.”
“What? Won’t that mean I will have to stay over forever?”
“Or I could stay over at your house. Either way is fine with me, as long as we’re sleeping together.”
“…”
“Kazuya, why is your face so red?” Yamapi moved closer to the other boy. “Are you thinking of hentai things?!”
“No I’m not!” Kame protested as he tried to step back. He almost tripped over the steps, but Yamapi caught him in time. Kame blushed as he took note of the position they were in.
“People always say that guys think with the lower half of their body.” Yamapi remarked.
“You make it sound like you’re not a guy.”
“I am.” Yamapi smiled at Kame gleefully, before he suddenly carried Kame over his shoulder, walking into the house. “C’mon, Kazuya, you like taking long baths, don’t you? Let’s give you a bath now.”
“Oi! Put me down!” Kame tried to escape from Yamapi’s grasp.
“No.”
“Pi, put me down, please?” Kame stopped moving as he pleaded, but seeing that Yamapi wasn’t going to let him go, he struggled once more.
“Be good, Kazuya. We’re going to take our bath now.”
“Who wants to take a bath with you?!” Kame felt himself blushing for the millionth time that day. Finally, he gave up struggling to get free of Yamapi’s hold, knowing that it was to no avail. “Ne, Pi…”
“Hm?”
“You know, if someone asks me who I would save if both you and Ryo-chan were drowning and I could only save one, I’ll save Ryo-chan.”
“Nani?” Yamapi paused in mid-step. “You’ll let me drown?”
“Yep.” Kame grinned.
Yamapi put a hand to his chest. “Heart. Hurts.”
Kame laughed, before continuing. “But then, after I save Ryo-chan, I’ll drown together with Pi.”
“Mou, Kazuya, why are you so cute?” Yamapi smiled before quickening his steps towards the bathroom. “Gah, now I can’t wait to take our bath together.”
“Hentai!”

And I’m also happy that Jin didn’t get to appear more than for this one scene *gets killed by Akame-fans* XD Haha, no seriously, he’d just make things even more complicated right now, while Kame and Ryo needed to figure their issues out first ^.~
Kame constantly sulking just makes me wanna pat him all the time – So cute *laughs* It’s a pity Yamapi never got to stay close to him for long, but well, shouldn’t have Ryo get jealous, too, right now, ne? *pats Ryo as well for having to bear with a jealous!Kame* *rofl*
Speaking of Ryo, for some reason the ‘Yamapi’s willing slave’ term had me crack up so badly. Wonder if he’d really go as far as become a willing slave for Pi like Kame suspects XD
And I loved this part:
“But I like Kame too.” Yamapi stated easily.
“Yamapi, you’re making this whole thing more complicated. Don’t make the shape even weirder!”
“It’s still a square.”
“Oh yeah, you’re right.”

See! It’s posted! It’s posted even if Idol-chan said it wasn’t going to be~! x3 And it’s 6 pages of a lovely, printed ficcy~ It’s even more lovely than the…oh my, I forgot mom bought be doughnuts! *looks at the clock* It’s past 11 pm ;___;~ Too late for sweets…
I absolutely loved the “keitai strap” quarrel~ I’m obessed with matching straps and it was so cute~ Ryo-chan is really mean to Kame sometimes ^_^; Such a baka. But on the other hand it was incredibly sweet how when he asked Jin to go on a date with Kame, but lied to Kame later~ *glomps both of them* Just why was Jin simply sitting there and not even noticing them? Should I feel sorry for him, because he was tired or scold him for ignoring others? *blinks*
I laughed at Pi’s conspiracy… So childish. So was the conversation with Taisuke…. How come you guys make them so…how to put it not to offend the boys… well… stupid? XD
“See! Three! There’s one more I don’t know about!”
“Eh, Kame, I was talking about you.” – my favorite part xD So clueless it hurts~!
Sho-kun’s “time-out” also fitted there perfectly. Is his mind ever off the court? Of course, if Nino isn’t around?
Eh, Nino was lucky to get that surprise bday party. It had to be a surprise if it was a week earlier, nee. Such a pity it usually happenes in fanfiction and movies only. I’d like one, too. But before I started complaining at my friends not being creative enough, I dropped my jaw at Taisuke’s announcement. That boy is scary ^_^; *glomps Taisuke* Or maybe Yamapi the Drama Queen is the scary one..?

yay! I really liked this. and yup, it was really sweet of Ryo to ask Jin out for Kame even though he likes him. poor Ryo, and I loved sulking and jealous Kame! ^_^ I also agree with SumeragiAeka about the layout. Love the pictures used, and looking forward to reading the next chapter!

ohhhhhhh…. this is great! i read “double” not too long ago and really enjoyed it. i’m so glad you’re now writing (another, lol) fic with a prominent kame… and potentionally one of my favorite pairings, too.
