Chapter Eleven
“Ok, we’re doing full court drills, one on one. Everyone pair up and get in line!”
As Morita finished his instructions to his team of six, Yamapi felt himself being pushed towards Kame by Jin. “You two can partner each other, I’ll go with Matsumoto!”
It was the umpteenth time that day. Since training started and from the time they started warm ups that day, Jin had taken it upon himself to pair them together whenever any opportunity arose. It was “Ooh, Yamashita! Great, you’re here! Help Kame stretch!” or “Here, here, you should be standing with Kame ne!” or “Go partner Kame!” or “Yamashita, don’t be shy! You need to stand closer to guard against Kame! Yeah yeah, go right up against him!”.
For the umpteenth time that day, Yamapi glared at Jin in irritation. Of course, the other only grinned at him in return.
“Pi?”
“What?” Yamapi had snapped before realising who had spoken to him.
“Erm, it’s our turn.” Kame stated quietly.
“Oh, ok.”

Maybe they should change teams, Kame thought as they headed towards the showers. Then Pi would be happier.
During training, whenever they had to pair up, Kame noticed Yamapi’s annoyed look. Kame felt hurt everytime he saw it, and wished it was only his paranoid self thinking that Yamapi didn’t like pairing up with him. They used to pair up during their own training back in school, and Yamapi was always fine with the arrangement, so surely it would be the same now? But Kame wasn’t sure, especially after the recent incident, which must have also affected Yamapi a lot. And lately, Yamapi still seemed to distant himself from Kame on purpose, like he was avoiding trouble.
As he watched Yamapi’s back, moving further ahead of him, Kame called out.
“Pi.”
His voice was soft, so he thought that the other boy didn’t hear him at first, but Yamapi turned around, looking at him expectantly. Kame hesitated.
“What is it?”
“Pi, are you angry with me?” Kame blurted out.
“Eh?”
“Because I always give you trouble.” Kame looked down at the floor. “I’m sorry. Because of me, people misunderstood that we were a couple and you were a third party, even though you were just trying to help me at the bunkasai. And I’m sure a lot of people have been saying bad things about you because of what happened. I’m really sorry. It’s all my fault, so I don’t blame you if you’re still angry with me.”
Kame squeezed his eyes shut as he felt tears threatening to pour out. He didn’t know why he was behaving this way. This wasn’t something he should be crying about, nor make a fuss about. Even if Yamapi really was angry with him and didn’t want to be friends with him anymore, there was no reason for him to get so upset. It didn’t feel nice to be abandoned, but he still had other friends who cared about him, right? Friends sometimes just come and go. Why was he caring so much about what Yamapi thought of him, and whether or not Yamapi paid attention to him?
Two arms circled him, pulling him into a tight embrace.
“Baka… why are you crying?” Yamapi whispered into Kame’s ear, comforting.
“I’m not crying.” Kame protested, holding back his tears.
“I’m not angry with you.” Yamapi continued. “So don’t cry. Or I’ll never forgive myself for making you cry.”
“I’m not crying.” Kame repeated. “And even if I am, it’s not your fault. I’m just being a crybaby that’s all.”
Yamapi chuckled.
“You’re really not angry with me?” Kame asked once more. He felt Yamapi shake his head in reply. “But-”
“But what?” Yamapi cut him off. “I don’t care about all those people saying bad things about me. I’ve grown used to it. People are just jealous sometimes. But I won’t forgive them for the things they said to you. So if I’m angry with anyone, it’s those horrible people. Definitely not you.”
“Then why do you keep avoiding me? I thought you hated me.”
“That’s not possible! Kame-chan’s the person I love most in world!”
Kame looked up at Yamapi, a bit taken aback.
“Erm. I mean just like Nino! Yeah! Anyway, speaking of Nino, I’m going to take a quick shower then go find Nino to annoy him, and be a light bulb so that Sho and he can’t go do kinky stuff.” Yamapi stuck his tongue out, then patted Kame on the head. “See ya later.”
Kame stood, spaced-out for several moments, before a smile crept upon his face.

“Ninooooooooo.” Yamapi said as his best friend open the door. He noticed that Nino was alone. “Eh, where’s your Sho-kun?”
“He’s gone to play cards with that Aiba fellow.” Nino muttered as he jumped back onto his bed. “Anyway, what is it that you want this time?”
“Hit me.”
Nino raised an eyebrow, before grabbing a pillow and hitting Yamapi hard on the head.
“Itai! Why did you hit so hard for?!” Yamapi grumbled.
“Hey, I used a pillow. I could have used something hard to whack you and that would have been much more painful.” Nino rolled his eyes. “Why did you want me to hit you for in the first place? Are you masochistic?”
“No. Just that I felt I deserved to be hit for being an idiot.”
“What did you do?”
“I made Kame-chan sad.” Yamapi frowned. “He thought that I was avoiding him because I was angry with him.”
“See?” Nino hit Yamapi with the pillow once more, but not so hard this time. “Who asked you to behave so weirdly around him? Couldn’t you just tell him what you feel instead of avoiding him and causing such misunderstandings?”
“Well you’ll be glad to know that I almost let slip how I feel about him.”
“Almost?”
“Yah, I had to cover myself for the slip in the end. Fortunately.”
“What do you mean by ‘fortunately’?” Nino pinched his best friend this time. “Do you intend to pine for Kame for the rest of your life, not ever letting him know what you feel?”
“Better than telling him and then getting rejected. If I get rejected, I’ll be wallowing for more than a week. Maybe forever.”
“If you get rejected. What makes you think you’ll get rejected? The Pi I know is usually way more self-confident. Don’t tell me just because you think you have a rival in Ryo-chan, you have lost all confidence in yourself?”
“You can’t blame me. Ryo-chan has the advantage after all.”
“How? By being Kame’s best friend? Pfft.” Nino crossed his arms. “You’re the one who’s spending twenty-four hours with Kame now. You even shared a bed with him. Where’s Ryo-chan? Somewhere else. Probably with that guy from Osaka. Shouldn’t you take the opportunity you have right now?”
Yamapi pouted.
“After knowing you for so many years, your pout has lost its effect on me. So you’re better off using it on Kame instead.”
Yamapi sighed. “I can try to return to my ‘old’ self around Kame-chan, and be Kame-chan’s second best friend. Because I don’t want him to be sad and think that I don’t want him as a friend anymore. But I dunno if I’ll have the strength to tell Kame how I feel, y’know. Not now anyway.”
“Fine, take your time. Just make sure you tell him before Ryo-chan changes his mind and decides to ‘take Kame back’.”
Yamapi pouted. “You’re not being helpful.”
“Hey, Ryo-chan can be unpredictable at times.” Nino stated simply. “Anyway, shouldn’t you get back to your room soon? In case another one of your rivals strikes while you’re gone.”
“Who?”
“Akanishi.”
“Oh yah!” Yamapi got up hurriedly, rushing out of Nino’s room and back to his. When he opened the door, he saw that Jin really was in his room, seated cross-legged on the floor playing cards with Kame.
“Pi.” Kame smiled at him. Yamapi smiled back, before turning to Jin.
“Oi you, what are you doing over here again?”
“Matsumoto’s bullying me, so I’m staying over again!” Jin announced happily as he flopped onto Kame’s bed.
“Baka! Don’t you think you’re inconsiderate to keep stealing someone else’s bed?”
“But I was kicked out!” Jin made a puppy dog face, but was ignored.
“It’s okay Pi. If you think it’s squeezy, I’ll take the floor tonight.”
“No, I’m not gonna let you sleep on the floor. The one who should be sleeping on the floor is the one who comes over when he has his own bed in his own room.”
Jin just snored loudly in response.
“Oi, don’t try to pretend to be asleep.” Yamapi kicked Jin.
“Itai! Yamashita is so mean ne! Anyway, if you find it so squeezy, Kame can always share the bed with me! Ne, Kame?”
“Okay, if Pi has more space that way-”
“No!”
Jin smirked at Yamapi. “Eh? Nande? Why can’t Kame share a bed with me?”
“Because.” Yamapi bit his lip. “Erm. Because. Because you’ll have some stupid dream and end up kicking Kame off the bed! Yeah, look what happened to you this morning, baka.”
“Ah. Sou sou.” Jin nodded sagely. “Well, then I guess you two will just have to share a bed again ne. Goodnight~!”

awwww how sweeett hahaha i didn’t go on a-baka to read this..actually im not even sure if u posted it on a-baka..but AWWWW kame and ryo!!! hhehehe well if part 2 is gonna be up by kame’s birthday..thats only 3 more days! ganbatte!! im looking forward to it~~ what happens with akanishi?? =]] and why dont sho and nino tell the others..? i was waiting so long for the 2nd part hahaah i read double quite a while ago =DD heheh thx for writing!!

And I’m also happy that Jin didn’t get to appear more than for this one scene *gets killed by Akame-fans* XD Haha, no seriously, he’d just make things even more complicated right now, while Kame and Ryo needed to figure their issues out first ^.~
Kame constantly sulking just makes me wanna pat him all the time – So cute *laughs* It’s a pity Yamapi never got to stay close to him for long, but well, shouldn’t have Ryo get jealous, too, right now, ne? *pats Ryo as well for having to bear with a jealous!Kame* *rofl*
Speaking of Ryo, for some reason the ‘Yamapi’s willing slave’ term had me crack up so badly. Wonder if he’d really go as far as become a willing slave for Pi like Kame suspects XD
And I loved this part:
“But I like Kame too.” Yamapi stated easily.
“Yamapi, you’re making this whole thing more complicated. Don’t make the shape even weirder!”
“It’s still a square.”
“Oh yeah, you’re right.”

See! It’s posted! It’s posted even if Idol-chan said it wasn’t going to be~! x3 And it’s 6 pages of a lovely, printed ficcy~ It’s even more lovely than the…oh my, I forgot mom bought be doughnuts! *looks at the clock* It’s past 11 pm ;___;~ Too late for sweets…
I absolutely loved the “keitai strap” quarrel~ I’m obessed with matching straps and it was so cute~ Ryo-chan is really mean to Kame sometimes ^_^; Such a baka. But on the other hand it was incredibly sweet how when he asked Jin to go on a date with Kame, but lied to Kame later~ *glomps both of them* Just why was Jin simply sitting there and not even noticing them? Should I feel sorry for him, because he was tired or scold him for ignoring others? *blinks*
I laughed at Pi’s conspiracy… So childish. So was the conversation with Taisuke…. How come you guys make them so…how to put it not to offend the boys… well… stupid? XD
“See! Three! There’s one more I don’t know about!”
“Eh, Kame, I was talking about you.” – my favorite part xD So clueless it hurts~!
Sho-kun’s “time-out” also fitted there perfectly. Is his mind ever off the court? Of course, if Nino isn’t around?
Eh, Nino was lucky to get that surprise bday party. It had to be a surprise if it was a week earlier, nee. Such a pity it usually happenes in fanfiction and movies only. I’d like one, too. But before I started complaining at my friends not being creative enough, I dropped my jaw at Taisuke’s announcement. That boy is scary ^_^; *glomps Taisuke* Or maybe Yamapi the Drama Queen is the scary one..?

yay! I really liked this. and yup, it was really sweet of Ryo to ask Jin out for Kame even though he likes him. poor Ryo, and I loved sulking and jealous Kame! ^_^ I also agree with SumeragiAeka about the layout. Love the pictures used, and looking forward to reading the next chapter!

ohhhhhhh…. this is great! i read “double” not too long ago and really enjoyed it. i’m so glad you’re now writing (another, lol) fic with a prominent kame… and potentionally one of my favorite pairings, too.
